Improving water quality at Mulgrave Estate
Mulgrave Estate have been successful in applying for some grant aid in the form of agricultural materials to prevent poaching and run off in part of the Sandsend beck catchment. The Estate have acquired materials to install over 400m of fencing to stop grazing livestock entering the watercourse at Dunsley. This reduces the opportunity for livestock to pollute the drains and watercourses which eventually flow into the bay and the Sandsend bathing beach. As an alternative to livestock drinking from the beck the project will also install a large trough, pipework and concrete sleepers for hardstanding to enable livestock to still graze the land and have a constant supply of clean water. Work on installing the materials will begin in April.
