Trees

Trees are a vital part of the Estate’s character, with the in-house forestry team of four, responsible for the care of around 2,500 acres of woodland. Accounting for 16% of the Estate’s land area, this expanse of woodland is a direct result of the long-term stewardship and careful management of the Normanby family’s ownership.

Noted for its veteran trees and historic landscape importance, the Mulgrave woods 10 year forest plan is currently being prepared to simultaneously protect the heritage and clarify a long-term vision. In addition to commercial timber production and firewood sales, key objectives centre on the maintenance of the significant landscape and woodland habitat value, whilst maintaining a sustainable business framework. Mulgrave Estate are pleased to be supplying wood that is  "Ready to Burn" certified, meeting new legal requirements that came into force from 1st May 2021 in England.
